Oh to be a kid again - Sunday Social!

1. What do you miss most about being a kid?
The fact that everything was like one big game! The world seems like one big amusement park full of happy when you're a kid. Literally everything is amazing.

2. Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it?
Bubbles- I was obsessed with "The Cheeteah Girls" and my BFF and I pretty much pretended to be the characters, like all the time. So she was Chu-chi and I was Bubbles.
Bunny- Because it was the easiest way for people to remember my name. Ebone (eh-bunny) Bunny. Get it?
Nina- I still don't know why I was given this one. Don't all parents just make up a random nickname for their kids? Anyway, my dad calls me Nina 90% of the time since I was a wee one.
Whitney- Most of my teachers, for unknown reasons, have called me by my last name. It stuck all the way through the end of high school. Literally no one ever calls me Whitney though, oddly it was just teachers/staff.
Perfect- okay just kidding.

3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess?
Double-dutch, hand games, lava-tag and freeze-tag. Just running around in general.

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
EVERYTHING! Ballerina, Disney princess, warrior ninja, movie star, singer, model, one time I thought I wanted to be cartoon. Unfortunately that is physically impossible.
IF SHE CAN DO IT SO CAN I DAGNABIT!

5. Did you participate in any school activities?
Oh goodness, I tried! I tried just about every sport I could. I found out quickly that I'm just not made to do anything athletic. Field trips and clubs though, I'm in!

6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about?
I would do silly dances all the time. Sing off-key on purpose. Look up funny/silly jokes and stories to recite at dinner time. I was ridiculously dramatic with everything I did. If I fell down, even if it didn't even hurt I'd go and pull a 'Peter Griffin.' C'mon you know what I'm talkin bout. I did just about anything I could for  laughs. Lol and still do!

Kid Cam: My day in pictures taken by a kid

Today's KC is brought to you by: Judah!
Judah is my little cuzzo, age 5

I think he did such a good job, don't you?

The sun was shining, breeze in the wind, hyped up fans and parents, and extremely friendly people everywhere you went.

I was selling merchandise all by myself and I sold roughly $700 worth in only 5 hours! Although this was a last minute volunteer thing (they were short 3 people, I wasn't doing anything today and just happened to be dressed when I got the call) I still got paid... in candy and nachos. But I ain't complaining!!! Shoot... free food? That's the best kind of paycheck!

PSA!

If you're currently reading this on my blog (which you are, obvi), then you may notice a bit of craziness goin on.

BEAR WITH ME

I'm trying to learn all the ins-n-outs of designing my blog myself! As many of you know, this can be a long and frustrating process...

So far so good but it's not 100% where I want it to be. More like 60%.

So certain links they may be out of whack, graphics are lookin kinda janky, and the like...

Not the greatest thing but I'm a fast learner and I honestly think I'm getting the hang of it :)

Thanks for being patient while I figure things out yall!!

P.S. it may or may not be "finished" by Saturday. That's what I'm shootin for anyway... ya girls got thangs to do and naps to take lol

So feel free to stalk my blog, I'll still be posting on a regular basis.
Nothing has changed... just the aesthetics!

Everything in my archives and categories section is fully functional despite this :)

*****edit:everything is finished now!!! How does it look?

photo signature_zpsbd922b58.png <----look! I even made a snazzy signature for the end of all my posts!!!

Thoughts on motherhood

Saturday I babysat my little cuzzo Judah for the night while mommy was out doing her singing/networking thang. He was coming down from a bit of a sugar high and knowing that it would soon be his bedtime he was bouncing off the walls! But it wasn't long before he started calming down, eyes getting heavy, pj's were changed into, and teeth brushed. I love babysitting. Being the youngest of 5 leaves me without a little brother or sister so this is about as close as it gets. My love of children just keeps getting stronger every time. They are so incredibly smart and they teach me something new every visit.

The little guy couldn't remember my name and kept calling me mom. Which I thought was kind of hilarious- Ebby? Emily? Ebebe? Epodsaihowheudbwq??? We finally settled on just calling me "cousin" and that worked out fine. A few hours after bedtime he woke up and his real mommy was no where to be found and so he had a little freak-out. I assured him Mom will be back soon and to go back to sleep. I left the light on and went back into the living room. Okay actually I made a detour and toasted up a blueberry waffle and then I went back into the living room ;)

Maternal instinct, daydreaming, 'young girl' mentality- whatever you want to call it I can't help but think that in a few years... I will be a mom. I'll be the one needing a babysitter on weekends. I will have a home filled with things to teach, play, and care for a child. A child of my very own. Someone I can completely spoil with my love each and every day. This makes me really nervous yet still excited. But I guess I'm more hopeful for the future than anything.

Don't misunderstand me, I am in no rush. Absolutely no rush at all. I'm content waiting on God's timing. However, I do know in the back of my mind that the day I'm blessed with the responsibility of motherhood will come.  And nothing excites me more than the thought of that.

Yesterday I got a text around 1pm:
L: You up?
Me: yeah, what's up?
L: I'm running errands today thought I'd come by and pick up the mittens
Me: yeah! You can do that :)

7 1/2 hours later I send her a text:
Me: ....you still coming by?
L: oh lol yeah I'll come right now

Another 1/2 hour later she finally gets here. Mind you the sun is now going down:
Me: Oh heeeeey! So did you get all your errands done?
L: Hahaha yeah. Girl, I've been at the house for a long time!

Sometimes you get so busy running around doing things on your to-do list once you finish you just go home and forget everything else!

She loved 'em :) And I'm a happy camper!

Guess what I got in the mail today! Funny enough when I checked the mail after she left there was the handwritten thank you cards she sent to us<3 A sweet way to end the day.

'Til next time
