NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

Oh this is a dangerous question... I have so many! I definitely am not sorry about it but I love to watch make fun of any reality show. My favorite right now is Braxton Family Values. Tamar... I cannot

Funny you should ask. I have little playlists right over here:

Some say it's an obsession, some say collection, call it what you will. I love Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Nylon, Allure, the usual magazines. For books I love science fiction ie. 5. What is your favorite snack?
Apples! Chips and salsa! Carrots! Uncooked tortillas!
Not all together of course, but I could snack on those things allllll day.

Sunday Social - Jobs!

Hey errybody :) I hope you're doin well! Considering the fact that first day of my new job is actually tomorrow, this week's Q's are very appropriate :D

1. What is your dream job?
Homemaker. I know this sounds like a cop out. Oh, no thanks. I don't want to work for a living, I'll just vacuum the floors and eat bon bons while I watch my soaps. Uhhhh no. My mother was/still is a homemaker and a mother of 5. And based on the demographic of bloggers in America (i.e. mommy blogs), I don't need to tell you guys that being a mom in itself is a full time job. I know what it takes, the responsibilities, the sacrifices, the energy, patience, love, attention, blood, sweat, and tears and 567932 other things that go into committing yourself to stay at home and raise a family. But since I was a little grasshopper that has been my dream.

Besides, who says I can't have my own side business at home? Helloooo that's what the internet is for!

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn’t need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
Oh man, that depends how much money I win. If it's one of those sweet 'IJustWonEnoughMoolaToSetMeUpForLife' deals then the first order of business I'd phone everyone I knew and proceed to dancing.

Live the Beyonce life for a week or two... or five.

THEN I'd pay off all my family's debts, save a few million for my kids' futures, donate to my favorite charities and travel for the rest of my life indulging in whatever. I feel like that sounds so Miss-USA-pageant-y, but oh well.

3. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
If you decide you want to work in retail you absolutely need patience and good people skills. If you are short-tempered, you don't like people bugging you with a bunch of questions, or you can't handle a little attitude now and then, and you're not willing to go the extra mile for your customers- PICK A DIFFERENT CAREER! Nobody likes going to a store or something and dealing with a rude and unfriendly employee. You have to be a people person to work with people or it ain't gon work.

4. What would be your ideal “just for fun” job?
In my area there are organizations that let you be a Disney princess/ Disney character for children's parties. It's basically like being paid to dress up and pretend to be your favorite princess! PLUS you get to go out to a birthday party or picnic for a bunch of little kids and have fun! How cool right? Dreams do come true!!!

5. What was your first “real” job?
I was an intern at a green energy nonprofit. It was pretty cool, I learned a LOT made a bunch of new friends. I had recently turned 18 and was quickly promoted to a real 9-5 position and was given so much responsibility. I'm really thankful for that job because I got a lot of exposure to the 'working world' or should I say 'real world.'

INFJ- Intovert Intuitive Feeling Judging

Monday, September 9: Take this short personality test and respond to your results. (at the end, find the detailed profile of your personality account - click "click to view" under "You" and "self awareness and personal growth." You can even google your type and find more info on it!)

"INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress."
I've always been that friend people would come to when they had no one else to turn to. Whenever someone needed to vent I was all ears. Crying at 2am? I'll pick up the phone. Need unbiased and honest advice? I don't know everything, but I'll give you my 110%! That's always just been my role in all of my friendships, the trusted confidant. I'll take every secret I have to the grave. It warms my heart to know that these people truly trust me with thier most personal and intimate stories, feelings, and some even with their hearts. I never claim to know everything. To be quite honest I have very little life experience! But I have and always will be ready at a moments notice to help someone in need in any way that I can. If I truly see you as a friend, I will give you all that I got. What else are friends for, am I right ladies?

"The INFJ's thinking is introverted. Perhaps it is when the INFJ's thinking function is operative that he is most aloof. A comrade might surmise that such detachment signals a disillusionment."
"INFJs, like their fellow intuitives, may be so absorbed in intuitive perceiving that they become oblivious to physical reality. The INFJ under stress may fall prey to various forms of immediate gratification. Awareness of extraverted sensing is probably the source of the "SP wannabe" side of INFJs. Many yearn to live spontaneously; it's not uncommon for INFJ actors to take on an SP (often ESTP) role."
I'm an avid daydreamer. Like a hardcore daydreamer. My mom mentioned to me a few times she gets a little wierded out because I sometimes get this really intense look on my face and I may or may not respond when someone tries to call me 'back to reality.' I like to call it La La Land. It's sort of an alternate reality where everything is basically the same as real life, but it's literally perfect because I can control all the circumstances, I can do whatever I want, let in whoever I want, and everyone is happy and good-hearted. The same way a child would create an imaginary world. The same way a mental health patient would create a happy place... but I swear I'm not crazy!! I just find it easier to deal with real life when I have another one I can escape to whenever I need it. Whatever, I don't care what you say... It makes me happy so there.

"INFJs are deeply concerned about their relations with individuals as well as the state of humanity at large. They are, in fact, sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people. On the contrary, INFJs are true introverts, who can only be emotionally intimate and fulfilled with a chosen few from among their long-term friends, family, or obvious "soul mates." While instinctively courting the personal and organizational demands continually made upon them by others, at intervals INFJs will suddenly withdraw into themselves, sometimes shutting out even their intimates. This apparent paradox is a necessary escape valve for them, providing both time to rebuild their depleted resources and a filter to prevent the emotional overload to which they are so susceptible as inherent "givers."
I feel like this sorta piggy-backs on to the  first two bits... And I agree 100% But it's so much more articulate than anything I could ever try to explain about myself.

"Due in part to the unique perspective produced by this alternation between detachment and involvement in the lives of the people around them, INFJs may well have the clearest insights of all the types into the motivations of others, for good and for evil. The most important contributing factor to this uncanny gift, however, are the empathic abilities often found in Fs, which seem to be especially heightened in the INFJ type (possibly by the dominance of the introverted N function)
Again, I agree 100%, however I also believe that most people have pretty good judgement or a '6th sense' about the motivations or the heart of another person. But I can honestly say that I have never once been wrong about a person that I've met and passed judgement on one way or another. And don't say you've never judged anyone, we all do on some level.

"This empathy can serve as a classic example of the two-edged nature of certain INFJ talents, as it can be strong enough to cause discomfort or pain in negative or stressful situations. For instance, there can sometimes be a "tug-of-war" between NF vision and idealism and the J practicality that urges compromise for the sake of achieving the highest priority goals."
Empathy is the word of the day! I know for a fact that while you can have a healthy amount of empathy- it's what gives us a sense of hunanity and compassion and all those other wonderful things that connect us and make us human. BUUUUUT  sometimes I take things too far without meaning to. I take on so much of other peoples burdens and make their problems my own (which I do NOT recommend). I know that it's not my responsibility to take care of other people and be such a 'fixer' but I can't help it. It's only when I'm completely burnt out and therefore unable to solve my OWN problems that I realize it's time to fall back.

Now, about the whole 'tug-of-war' thing, I just call that perfectionism. I get those tendencies from my mom.

"And the I and J combination, while perhaps enhancing self-awareness, may make it difficult for INFJs to articulate their deepest and most convoluted feelings. Usually self-expression comes more easily to INFJs on paper, as they tend to have strong writing skills. Since in addition they often possess a strong personal charisma, INFJs are generally well-suited to the "inspirational" professions such as teaching (especially in higher education) and religious leadership."

I'm a self-help addict. Books, magazine articles, internet websites, forums, you name it! Coupled with all the advice I actively seek out from family and friends. Aaaaaand let's not forget that I'm an over-analytical person to begin with. This overwhelming and almost unnecessary intake of information makes it pretty hard to calm down and really figure things out for myself and then be able to communicate what I'm feeling or thinking to someone else. If you meet me in real life and we got into a deep conversation, you'd find that I talk in circles a lot. I think because my mind is moving 300 miles a minute. But oddly enough, if I start writing instead of speaking, it just flows without me having to think about it. Even in school I actually LOVED writing papers because it was always just so easy for me.

It's funny that they mention teaching and religious leadership. Since around the age of 15 I've been seriously interested in the career paths of working in the ministry as a Sunday school teacher, public elementary/middle/high schools as a counselor, or even as a social worker. Hmmmm, maybe this test was on to something...

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So how did you feel about the personality test?

Well, like I've said I'm a self-help addict. And I have actually taken a test like this a few times before so I wasn't surprised with the results, same pretty much every time. Most of what is described in the results I can agree with, others I know for sure don't apply to me.

I've always taken everything I hear/read/see with a grain of salt, like my dad always taught me. Nothing in life is a one-size-fits-all. Except maybe socks. Or snuggies.

Just like when you read a horoscope (Oh c'mon I know you sneak a peak at the magazine column. Where my Cancer's at?!) it feel like OMG this is so totally me!!!!!!!!! But you know that it's just a bunch of generalized mumbo-jumbo that anyone could say about anyone and it would feel like really relates to them.

That being said, I think it was a fun lil test to take. It's always nice to have someone else say what you've always tried to explain about yourself that you couldn't put into the right words to make someone else understand.

A piece of advice, actually two and a half pieces of advice.

Thursday, September 5: Pass on some useful advice or information you learned and always remembered.

I say 'two and a half' because the first two sort of melt into each other.
***fun fact: I actually have the first bit of advice printed and strategically placed in various spots in my house.***

3 month vacation... from my life

Wednesday, September 4: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do?

Assuming that I'd have the money and transportation to do so, I would do all the things that I'd like a redo of or missed out on as a teenager. It's nothing huge, I did a lot of fun stuff. But there's things that I just didn't get to do because of school, time, and money. Plus the fact that I couldn't drive and didn't have a job which equals no money so my options were limited. And there's always some things that weren't what you wanted it to be the first time around. Things like:
  • Skip school and go to driving (I'm not in school anymore, but it'd be nice to take a spontaneous drive anywhere)
  • Go to a karaoke bar with friends ( I've done it ONCE, but we didn't do it right... redo please!)
  • Sit on rooftops
  • Go camping again
  • Build forts with friends and have a sleepover
  • Ride every ride at the amusement park
  • Go to prom (lol I went to senior prom, but because of the fact that ours was on a boat and I was sea-sick I'd very much like a do over!!)
And there's a lot of other things I'd probably want to do besides just stuff I'd missed out on. Like sit around and do absolutely nothing for a week... or 3. Go for a week or so without tv or social media or ANY internet at all. Spend as much time as I possibly can going to new places. I live in what I guess you could call 'the city' and yet I've never really explored it at all. Really get out there and just take in all the sights, sounds, buildings, and people.

I'd spend days just creating. Immersing myself in all things creative- writing, drawing, painting, singing, dancing. I mean I suppose I can and do spend time doing those things now but with all the everyday obligations and responsibilities there's just not enough time in the day to do everything I want, you know?

That's how I'd spend my 3 month vacation.

Summer Sunday Social

Hello hello hello everybody!! Hope you're doin' well :)
Let's get into the questions!

What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?

Well, normally my birthday is the highlight of my summers. But this year I have to say the 4th of July!!! It's easily one of the funnest +FUNNIEST days spent with my siblings so far this year :)
MORE ON THAT HERE

What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer?

I've been literally living in my running shorts, or any shorts really. They're just so comfortable! And we all know I hate pants, so I recently cut all of my sweatpants/yoga pants into shorts. Yes, ALL OF THEM. My legs are finally freeeeeeeee!

What is one thing you wish you'd gotten to do this summer?

Visit my play-sister like old times. I used to stay with her for a few weeks every summer when she lived in SoCal. She lives in Las Vegas now though, and I cannot handle that kind of heat! But I do miss her. I think the last time we hung out was... I don't know last fall? SEE! That's how bad it is. I can't even remember :(The good news is that she's moving back to SoCal soon! So maybe we'll get to hang out before the year is out after all!! Everything works out in the end :D

What was your favorite song of the summer?

AHHHHHH 'favorites' questions are always so tough! Like, I know that no matter what I choose I'll always come up with 50million other great songs. My 'favorite' changes practically every week. But for right now...
Chocolate by The 1975 on Grooveshark

What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer?

MAD MEN! I am completely obsessed! (okay so I just spelled 'obsessed' wrong and spell-check suggested the word 'possessed' and that word might actually be fitting too). I just started using Netflix in July and the first thing I went to go check out was MM. I always hear everyone ranting and raving about it. All I knew was that the wardrobe was wonderful and spot-on for the 60's which is the time period the series is set for. I'm halfway through season 3 and I can't. stop. watching. But other than that I have my usual PLL and Disney movies on rotation. Again, thanks to Netflix. If you have any Netflix recommendations let me know! I'm always looking for a new series/movie to swoon over!

Oh to be a kid again - Sunday Social!

1. What do you miss most about being a kid?
The fact that everything was like one big game! The world seems like one big amusement park full of happy when you're a kid. Literally everything is amazing.

2. Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it?
Bubbles- I was obsessed with "The Cheeteah Girls" and my BFF and I pretty much pretended to be the characters, like all the time. So she was Chu-chi and I was Bubbles.
Bunny- Because it was the easiest way for people to remember my name. Ebone (eh-bunny) Bunny. Get it?
Nina- I still don't know why I was given this one. Don't all parents just make up a random nickname for their kids? Anyway, my dad calls me Nina 90% of the time since I was a wee one.
Whitney- Most of my teachers, for unknown reasons, have called me by my last name. It stuck all the way through the end of high school. Literally no one ever calls me Whitney though, oddly it was just teachers/staff.
Perfect- okay just kidding.

3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess?
Double-dutch, hand games, lava-tag and freeze-tag. Just running around in general.

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
EVERYTHING! Ballerina, Disney princess, warrior ninja, movie star, singer, model, one time I thought I wanted to be cartoon. Unfortunately that is physically impossible.
IF SHE CAN DO IT SO CAN I DAGNABIT!

5. Did you participate in any school activities?
Oh goodness, I tried! I tried just about every sport I could. I found out quickly that I'm just not made to do anything athletic. Field trips and clubs though, I'm in!

6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about?
I would do silly dances all the time. Sing off-key on purpose. Look up funny/silly jokes and stories to recite at dinner time. I was ridiculously dramatic with everything I did. If I fell down, even if it didn't even hurt I'd go and pull a 'Peter Griffin.' C'mon you know what I'm talkin bout. I did just about anything I could for  laughs. Lol and still do!

Hope you're having a fantastic Sunday!!

Five on Friday!

  1. My sister and I are currently in a custody battle over these sequined tap shorts. Can you believe she wants to be selfish with these babies?!
  2. Dog and I have been on the same page all week. Neither of us wanna do anything. I feel you, dog.
  3. Two things... cookies baked after midnight is a GREAT decision. It always tastes better after midnight :) And PINK eggs! Well okay, the carton is pink... but c'mon! That just makes baking even more fun am I right ladies?
  4. I've been eating like a rabbit all week. Strictly fruits and vegetables.
AND FOR THE BIG FIVE- my birthday is on Sunday! WOOO!

Can you guess how old I'm turning?!
Go on, give it a shot ;)

Summer Lovin' Snail Mail Swap!!

The actual factual reveal day went live on the lovely Kelly's blog The NO Drama Mama on Monday. Can you guess who my partner was? None other than Kelly herself! Lol how cool is that, right?! As usual, I'm late to the party. BUT ALAS FAIR MAIDENS- I have the sacred package in my possession! And it has definitely exceeded my expectations! So grateful for the experience, thank you so much Kelly <3
Can we just take a moment to appreciate her wrapping skillz? And just look at the cute notes she attatched!

the sandals fit to a T! Gracias!
I laughed out loud on that one :D

And I don't know how in the world you knew, or maybe you're psychic, but I broke my favorite sunglasses a few weeks ago and I was so sad! (don't ask why I kept them, I think I have a hoarding problem. eeek!) But these adorable polka dotted ones are like a carbon copy!! And they happen to be sturdier (is that a word?) than my old pair too.

Holy moly, I couldn't be more appreciative. And I can't say thanks enough Miss Kelly! This lil box has put such a smile on my face and really made my day week month SUMMER!

Just goes to show, you never know what something small can do for a person.

Sunday Social

1.  How did you come up with your blog name?
Good question! It comes from a song by Miranda Lambert - Virginia Bluebell
It was one of my favorite songs in high school, still is. It's basically one of few songs that is my life story in a nutshell. Plus it's very uplifting. I changed it to California Bluebell because, well, I'm from California.

2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Connecting and making friends with other people I otherwise would never know.
I love having a place to put everything that's usually just floating around in my head.
I may not be the best writer, but I love writing and sharing... and over-sharing.
3. What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now can't live without?
That there exists a place where I have somewhere to unload all of the crazy, ridiculous, and sometimes not so entertaining things about myself and my life. I can write things out anytime, anyplace and be able to look back at it all and it's like a digital-version of my brain. I don't think I can live without an outlet, and blogging has definitely become one of them.

 4. Facebook or Twitter? and why?
Twitter, because it's faster. It's mostly the same thing anyway, pictures, links, and status updates. Minus all the profile stuff and annoying games that everyone keeps inviting you to play.
5. If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?
Omg, I feel like that would be soooo embarrassing to have a celeb read my blog and know about it. But I'd have to go with my in-my-head-celeb-bestie Demi Lovato. Idk why.

6. What is something you want people to know about your blog?
That it's still new (I started this January)! So bear with me! I'm still getting used to everything. I have no idea where I want this blog to take me. But right now I'm just having fun :) OH and if you follow me, or know me IRL, you know that I'm a pretty melodramatic person... so naturally that's sometimes reflected here. Can't help it!

8 goals for June

Every month I have goals and big to-do lists. Actually every day I make up some sort of to-do list. Okay, honestly I'm a little obsessed with lists. I think I probably have a list of everything under the sun hidden around my apartment, in my phone, the car, everywhere! Sometimes I find a list and I think what the heck does this even MEAN?! But today's lists is of my eight goals for the month.

Needless to say, I have waaay more than 8 on my real list.
But for the purpose of today's link-up I'll keep it short and sweet :)

  1. Find work
  2. Completely clean my apartment
  3. Purge my closet, again
  4. Avoid chocolate! (I'm allergic, but still very much addicted)
  5. Walk 5 miles (not all at once, but over the entire month)
  6. Make some baby items for my very pregnant sister
  7. Visit with my grandparents whom I haven't seen in a few months *granddaughter fail*
  8. Get my behind to the library and find at least 3 new books to read

Sunday funday

It's Sunday funday :) I hope everyone's having a great weekend! Here's to the start of another week!

1. What is your favorite social media outlet?
It was Facebook for the longest, now I'm starting to move into Twitter. I mainly just use FB to picture stalk. C'mon, don't act like you don't.
2. Do you subscribe to any daily new reads? If so, which ones?
Nope.

3. What is your favorite magazine to have by the pool?
Well I never go to the pool, but since they've come out with their first issue last year Cosmo Latina is my absolute favorite right now!

4. What is your favorite summertime song?
Ohhh that's a hard one. But the first thing that pops into my head is Summer Nights - Lil Rob

5. What is the best summer concert you've been to?
I've only been to one concert in my entire life! Sad, I know. But it was a Beyonce concert. It was fun. But I guess that's my favorite by default because I have nothing to compare it to. I would LOVE to go to another concert though!

Best Friends Forever

Happy Tuesday Yall! For today's linkup I'm supposed to show you 9 pictures with my husband. Spoiler- I'm not married. So I chose to showcase my besties :)
It's so difficult to choose just 9! But it's even more difficult to choose one BFF! So instead, I'm going to introduce you to some wonderful ladies who were all my BFF's at one time or another.
Arranged in no particular order.
Enjoy :)

Sunday Social!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far and amidst all the festivities I also hope you don't forget what Memorial Day is all about!
So let's get into the questions :)

1. What is your best summer memory as a kid?
Hmmm, probably going out to all the different picnics- church, family 'reunion', gma's birthday, 4th of July, all in the same summer. I think I was around 9 or 10 years old? Omg we had so much fun running around without a care in the world! Bubbles, hula-hoop contest (which I won every year, thank you very much!), potato sack races, three-legged races, dance contest, cook-offs, just everything kids dream of doing.

2. What is your favorite summer drink?
Well I don't drink soda much. Like it's very rare, but I will always make an exception for root beer floats, cream soda, and pineapple soda!

3. What is your favorite summer TV show?
Since shows go in weird rotations every year, this summer it's definitely going to be Pretty Little Liars!

4. What is the best outdoor summer activity?
Block parties!!!!

5. What are your summer vacation essentials?
Sunscreen for sure (don't believe the hype, black chicks need to protect your skin from the sun too!), my handy-dandy camera, endless sundresses, wedges, and the darkest over sized sunglasses I can find!

Throwback Thursday!

See that little chipmunk looking thing with the pink ball?
That's baby Ebone :)

Pink cat ears ^____^

Say what you want about T-Swift's 22 song/video
I happen to be obsessed with it.

And being the broke girl that I am, I refuse to pay $15-$20 for metal kitten headbands. No matter HOW cute they are. Plus, there's never any colored ones! So naturally I made my own. I found an old Easter headband that had pink petals all across the top so that you'd look like a little flower. (sorry no pictures...) I cut a couple of 'em off and put little clips on the bottom and voila!
And yes, I do actually wear these babies outside :)

Random Wedesday!

So if you're participating in the Blog Every Day in May challenge, like so many of us, you'll find it hard to blog literally every day! Just me? Oh okay.
I was doing a pretty good job at the start of the month... until my internet went out for almost 2 weeks :( But I'm back with a vengeance! lol Not really, but I'm back into the swing of blogging!!
------------------------------

If you know me you know I HATE wearing pants. Don't ask why... So I took a pair that I found while scourging through the thrift store a while ago and made it into a skirt. The waistband is elastic but it's loose enough that it sits comfortably on my hips but tight enough that they don't fall off! I don't know what to call the print. Nautical? Tribal? Whatever it is I like it, not bad for $3.
------------------------------
I finally got around to sending off my pen pal letters! At first, I couldn't find any stamps. Which was crazy because it seems like there's always a book of stamps lying around my house somewhere! Good grief, whenever I need something it's nowhere to be found. When I don't need it, it's all I see! Oh life, you and your irony. After I went out and bought stamps I caught the post-man as he was coming to drop off mail. I handed them all off to him with a huge smile on my face! Lol I'm sure he thought I was a little loopy but whatever. Who wouldn't be excited to write to their pen pals?! Not you? Well, you don't deserve a pen pal.
