Sunday Social: La Television

  1. What is your favorite thing to watch on a girls night? Literally anything with tons of songs in it. Everyone loves a good sing along am I right? That or something really absurd and quote-able. Like Grease or Step Brothers.
  2. What is your favorite thing to watch on your day off? Parks and Rec, Reign, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and Impractical Jokers.
  3. What is your favorite thing to watch when you're sick?  Disney movies! Pocahontas is my personal favorite. I could watch it all day long <3
  4.  What is the last movie you saw in the theater? Despicable Me 2!!! And I loved it!
  5. What are your top three favorite movies or tv shows? Oh my gosh, what a hard question! Well, I'm definitely obsessed with Parks and Recreation so there's one. Um, a close second is Doctor Who. This is a movie not a show but third would be Uptown Saturday Night with Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby.

Sunday Social - Childhood times

1. What were you like in middle school and high school?
Well, I was two different people. Middle school I was beginning to come out of my little shell and had tons of adventures with friends. I was really outgoing, sometimes outspoken, just having fun being a KID. I mean, right?  I was only 12 and 13! When I got into high school I ended up at a new school every year and usually started off with 0 friends. I was really shy and scared most of the time so I kept to myself a lot. But I did have fun with the people I later became friends with. There was a bunch of things going on in my personal life during HS so like most people it was difficult to adapt and get control of my emotions- I was all over the place. Teenage angst anyone? Oddly enough I was the one that most of my friends would come to for advice on things. I will say though that when I was safe in the comfort of my closest friends I was crazy-off-the-wall! Only with a select few would I let loose and be this 'extroverted and outgoing' person.

2. What were your favorite pastimes?
Reading was my number one thing. I have always loved reading and writing! I used to go to the library across the street and check out 5 or 6 books at a time. I was the girl who would take home all those books the school librarian put outside with a 'for free' sign to get rid off them and make room for newer books.
Besides that singing was something I was known for. I don't even know how so many people knew or even cared but I'd meet people in high school and they'd say 'oh yeah, I know you. I heard you can sing.' Instant embarrassment.

3. What songs were you obsessed with?
Oh man, well anything with a happy-sugary-pop vibe or any kind of love song is what I'd usually be caught listening to. But growing up my parents would listen to a lot of Motown and old school classics AKA grown folks music so I was really into that as well. Same as today I had a new favorite song every week. Plus when I'd hang out with friends they'd introduce me to all their favorite artists and things so my music taste was (and is) constantly changing.

4. What fashion statement do you look backing and cringe?
Every fashion statement I've ever made haha! But at the same time, I feel like when you're young and still in school that's the perfect time to experiment. Unless you go to a private school or something there's usually no restrictions on what you can and can't look like. When you're still a teenager you can get away with pretty much anything! So I tired just about everything! My only regret is that it was very short lived- like a few days at a time. I didn't really go all out every time so I wish I would have been CRAZIER while I still had the chance.

However, THIS has to have been the worst of it. And yes, I actually went to school like this.
circa 2006-2007

5. Who was your celeb crush?
I honestly don't even remember! O__O I had a new crush every day it seemed. I guess whoever was the hottest thing at the time haha! OH WAIT I TAKE THAT BACK! I remember being obsessed with Justin Nozuka and his hair. He's a singer, songwriter, and guitar player (the ultimate dream) and he made a lot of the songs that I had on repeat all the time back in the day!
*does quick youtube search*    yup, he's still swoon-worthy!!!

6. What was your favorite movie?
Disney movies. I can't pick just one! I love all kinds of movies but the only ones I seem to be able to watch a million times and never get tired of are the old school Disney animations. I'm talking Pocahontas, Thumbelina, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, I know you all know THE CLASSICS!

Sunday Social - Jobs!

Hey errybody :) I hope you're doin well! Considering the fact that first day of my new job is actually tomorrow, this week's Q's are very appropriate :D

1. What is your dream job?
Homemaker. I know this sounds like a cop out. Oh, no thanks. I don't want to work for a living, I'll just vacuum the floors and eat bon bons while I watch my soaps. Uhhhh no. My mother was/still is a homemaker and a mother of 5. And based on the demographic of bloggers in America (i.e. mommy blogs), I don't need to tell you guys that being a mom in itself is a full time job. I know what it takes, the responsibilities, the sacrifices, the energy, patience, love, attention, blood, sweat, and tears and 567932 other things that go into committing yourself to stay at home and raise a family. But since I was a little grasshopper that has been my dream.

Besides, who says I can't have my own side business at home? Helloooo that's what the internet is for!

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn’t need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
Oh man, that depends how much money I win. If it's one of those sweet 'IJustWonEnoughMoolaToSetMeUpForLife' deals then the first order of business I'd phone everyone I knew and proceed to dancing.

Live the Beyonce life for a week or two... or five.

THEN I'd pay off all my family's debts, save a few million for my kids' futures, donate to my favorite charities and travel for the rest of my life indulging in whatever. I feel like that sounds so Miss-USA-pageant-y, but oh well.

3. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
If you decide you want to work in retail you absolutely need patience and good people skills. If you are short-tempered, you don't like people bugging you with a bunch of questions, or you can't handle a little attitude now and then, and you're not willing to go the extra mile for your customers- PICK A DIFFERENT CAREER! Nobody likes going to a store or something and dealing with a rude and unfriendly employee. You have to be a people person to work with people or it ain't gon work.

4. What would be your ideal “just for fun” job?
In my area there are organizations that let you be a Disney princess/ Disney character for children's parties. It's basically like being paid to dress up and pretend to be your favorite princess! PLUS you get to go out to a birthday party or picnic for a bunch of little kids and have fun! How cool right? Dreams do come true!!!

5. What was your first “real” job?
I was an intern at a green energy nonprofit. It was pretty cool, I learned a LOT made a bunch of new friends. I had recently turned 18 and was quickly promoted to a real 9-5 position and was given so much responsibility. I'm really thankful for that job because I got a lot of exposure to the 'working world' or should I say 'real world.'

Summer Sunday Social

Hello hello hello everybody!! Hope you're doin' well :)
Let's get into the questions!

What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?

Well, normally my birthday is the highlight of my summers. But this year I have to say the 4th of July!!! It's easily one of the funnest +FUNNIEST days spent with my siblings so far this year :)
MORE ON THAT HERE

What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer?

I've been literally living in my running shorts, or any shorts really. They're just so comfortable! And we all know I hate pants, so I recently cut all of my sweatpants/yoga pants into shorts. Yes, ALL OF THEM. My legs are finally freeeeeeeee!

What is one thing you wish you'd gotten to do this summer?

Visit my play-sister like old times. I used to stay with her for a few weeks every summer when she lived in SoCal. She lives in Las Vegas now though, and I cannot handle that kind of heat! But I do miss her. I think the last time we hung out was... I don't know last fall? SEE! That's how bad it is. I can't even remember :(The good news is that she's moving back to SoCal soon! So maybe we'll get to hang out before the year is out after all!! Everything works out in the end :D

What was your favorite song of the summer?

AHHHHHH 'favorites' questions are always so tough! Like, I know that no matter what I choose I'll always come up with 50million other great songs. My 'favorite' changes practically every week. But for right now...

What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer?

MAD MEN! I am completely obsessed! (okay so I just spelled 'obsessed' wrong and spell-check suggested the word 'possessed' and that word might actually be fitting too). I just started using Netflix in July and the first thing I went to go check out was MM. I always hear everyone ranting and raving about it. All I knew was that the wardrobe was wonderful and spot-on for the 60's which is the time period the series is set for. I'm halfway through season 3 and I can't. stop. watching. But other than that I have my usual PLL and Disney movies on rotation. Again, thanks to Netflix. If you have any Netflix recommendations let me know! I'm always looking for a new series/movie to swoon over!
